Becoming a Good Friend

September 23, 2008

At Friendship Circle, each week the kids have homework which allows them an opportunity to reinforce what we learned and put it into action at home. Last week, we learned about being a good friend (the story of David and Jonathan). The activity in the homework was to show love for someone. Here are some of the responses the kids had:

~Drake wrote Abbie an email.
~Took Aunt Lois to lunch for her birthday and gave her hugs and kisses and made a picture book. Hannah
~I called my Papa and told him I loved him. Tristen
~When we were at the store, Daddy let me pick a little body soap purse and I got one for Hunter. Bethany
~Faith called her Granny, who lives in Branson and told her she loved her and missed her. She then talked to Papa and told him the same.
~Give Miss Jessica my favorite apple cause I love her and I think green is her favorite color. Mikaela
~We made Eddie a get well card and sent it to him in the hospital. Quinton
~Called Nana to say Ilove you. Gave Daddy a hug. James
~Mia gave a friend a hug.

I really believe that compassion is something we can only teach kids by letting them experience it. I’m really proud of our Friendship Circle kids for practicing “friendship” in such a practical way.
