Preschool: October 12
October 12, 2008
This morning we learned about the word GIVE! The hand helps us remember a few things about Give. First, give means that God wants us to help other people. This could mean lending a hand and doing something kind, or giving them something that they need. Second, God wants us to give of our money. It’s important to begin having children give a monetary offering at a young age. It helps reinforce the idea that all things belong to God.
One of the ways that our preschool department practices this concept all year long is by financially supporting a child in Africa. Our child’s name is Shadrack. He is 5 years old. We first learned about Shadrack last year during a different kind of Christmas. Our children instantly conencted with his story, and have continued to support him so that he can attend school and have his basic needs provided for. Click here to find out more about Shadrack! We were very excited when Shadrack was able to get a new pair of shoes!
This morning we learned about the widows who were hungry and needed food (Acts 6:1-7). One of our activities was working together tomakea delicious snack mix that we could all share.
We alsoencouraged our kids to bring in food items for the pantry, and many did!
Parents, it’s not to late! Put this story into action by bringing in a food item next week!Click here for a list of food items needed.Or think of another need you and your child can help meet. Suggestions: Bake cookies and take them to a neighbor or relative who could use a visitor. Send a card to someone who is sick. Tap into your child’s creativity- sometimes they can think of someone with a need that you might not think of!
Key Question: Are you ready to Gather, Group, Give and Go?
Answer: COUNT ME IN!
Our Memory Verse: “Go into all the world and tell the good news.” Mark 16:15
