Who will help you? Jesus will help me!
In our story today, 4 friends helped theirfriend who couldn’t walk meet Jesus by lowering him down through a roof on a blanket. When Jesus saw the man, he healed the man and the lame man stood up and was able to walk. I bet he gave his friends a big hug to thank them for helping him.
We had lots of fun with our activities today. First, we wrote a letter to mail to our friends. We are so glad God gave us great friends. Then we played a fun game of catch. 2 of our friends held out a big blanket, and then the rest of us tossed beanbags for them to catch.
We also played a fun game with a beach ballto review our memory verse. Our memory verse says, “He (Point up for God) cares (hug self) for me (use both thumbs to point to self) 1 Peter 5:7. (hold hands out like a Bible)
Parents: Sometimes prayer time can become a long list of people that the child names to “bless” or “help”. I’ve tucked in a child or two that tried to name every person they had ever met. I think this practice can sometimes cause prayer to lose it’s focus and purpose for a child. Keep prayer time a real conversation between your child and God by praying more specifically about the kind of help needed. Instead of “Help mommy and daddy and brother and grandma and teacher and Mrs. Smith down the block”try praying “Help daddy to feel better since he has had a cold and help me to be a better listener at school when my teacher is talking.” Not only will this help keep the prayer more conversational but praying specificaly allows your child to observe when God answers a prayer with “yes!”
