Preschool: Jesus is Alive
April 14th, 2009
Easter Morning, April 12th
Sundaymorning, we learned that the story of Easter has some sad parts but has a very happy ending! We learned that we don’t need to be sad because Jesus is Alive! We also remembered that Jesus wants to be our friend forever. Who wants to be our friend? Jesus wants to be my friend forever!
We had a lot of fun in our classrooms making special books to take home. These bookscan help us tell the story of Easter to our friends and families. We also played a few fun games. During one game, we rolled a giant ball from kid to kid and said “God rolled the stone away, and Jesus is alive today!”
It was a great morning, and a busy morning! We’ll continue exploring some of the fun stories surrounding Easter next week when we talk about the men who saw Jesus alive on the road to Emmaus.
Keep practicing your memory verse, “I am (point up) with you (point at others) always (make a circle with your arms.) Matthew 28:20 (hold hands open like a book) We remember that Jesus said these words and that he promises to be with us and to be our friend forever.
Parents, Now that you have a bunch of empty plastic Easter eggs around the house, make good use of them. Hide an empty egg and have your child find it. When they find it, have them open it to discover that it is empty. Tell them, “The egg is empty just like Jesus’ tomb was empty on Easter morning. Do you remember why? That’s right, because Jesus is alive!” Then play the game again, and ask your child to tell you what the empty egg should help us remember.
