Jimmy’s Story
October 22nd, 2009
This pastweek, West Side focused our teaching on service and this Sunday we (wiii) will be talking about outreach. While we are focusing our minds on these things, I keep thinking about an experience I had at a conference a few weeks ago. At one of our sessions, we were able to hear from a guy named Jimmy. Jimmy grew up in a slum in Kenya. Compassion International intervened in Jimmy’s life, and gave him food, clothes and an education. A man named Mark sponsored Jimmy through CI. After Jimmy shared his story, they surprised him by introducing him for the first time to his sponsor. It was a moment I will never forget, and even now is bringing tears to my eyes.
Below is a video of that session. Jimmy begins his testimony at minute 3:45 and at about minute 9:30 you might want to grab some kleenex.
Through CMF International, the Early Childhood Ministry sponsors a child named Shadrack in our adopted community in Nairobi. Read more about that project here.
