Preschool: Gideon Obeys God

July 26th

This morning we finished up the month with a great story about Gideon. We learned that God told Gideon to use torches, horns and clay pots to defeat the enemy. Gideon obeyed God and it worked! His little army was able to scare the bigger army away. Question: Can you believe what God says? Bible Point: God does what He says He will do.

We played some fun games today to help us remember the story. We played a game with bubble wrap, we made cool torches and we used flashlights to hunt for hidden hearts in the dark.

Parents, this week we talked about the things that make us feel afraid. This is a great week to encouage your child to trust in God when they are afraid. For example, if your child is afraid of the dark, before bed time pray that God will help us remember that he is always with us!

Preschool: God kept Noah Safe through the Flood

July 12, 2009

Today, we learned how the story of Noah ended. We found out that God kept Noah safe through the flood. God put a rainbow in the sky totell Noah that he would keep his promise. Can you believe what God says? God does what He says He will do.

We had a great day today making a cool rainbow banner that we made together and we ate yummy rainbow cookies.

Parents, this week be sure to get out your children’s Bible and read the story of Noah and the ark with your child. Then play a game of I Spy using colors. For example, you say “I spy with my little eye something that is red.” Your child can guess objects until they guess the item you chose. Be sure to let them lead the game as well.

Be sure to practice this month’s memory verse. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Prov. 3:5

Preschool: Noah Builds the Ark

July 5th

This month we are learning that God keeps his promises. Can you believe what God says? God does what He says He will do. In our story today, God told Noah to build an ark because there was going to be a flood. God told Noah to take animals on the ark with him and that God would keep them all safe. Noah obeyed, and God kept them all safe just as He said He would do.

To help us remember our story, we made paper plate boats and filled them with animal crackers. We also made really fun animal puppets.

Parents, when you are traveling in the car this week play a game with your child. Make an animal sound and let them guess which animal makes that sound. After they understand the game, let them lead the game. Let them make animal sounds and you do the guessing! After you’ve played the game, remind your child that God kept Noah and the animals safe on the ark.

Memory Verse: “Trust in the Lord (point up with both fingers) with all your heart.” (spread arms out on the word all and then move them closer together on the word your, on heart cross your arms over your heart.) Proverbs 3:5 (hold hands open like a Bible)
